We start with the film — its characters, emotional arc, pacing and the moments where music can add something the picture cannot say on its own.

We establish the musical world of the film: instrumentation, texture, themes and sonic palette, shaped through conversation and early sketches.

I compose directly to the edit, building cues around performance, dialogue, movement and silence rather than forcing the scene around the music.

Notes are part of the process. We refine until the score belongs to the film, then deliver the final mixes and stems required for post.

How does the scoring process work?

As early as you like. I’m happy to talk during development, while the edit is taking shape, or once picture is locked. Earlier conversations can help establish the musical language before scoring begins.

We start with the story and what the music needs to accomplish. From there we establish a musical language, score to picture, exchange notes, refine, and prepare the final music for post.

Do you work with temp tracks?

What will I receive?

Absolutely. A temp track can be useful shorthand for tone, pacing or intention. We can identify what’s working in it — and then build something original that belongs to your film.

Deliverables are tailored to the production and can include final mixes, alternate versions and stems as required for post.
